A Cupcake Birthday Card

Here is a card I made for my sister in law's birthday. It's very simple and very sweet! Hope you like it...

The paper is from the K&Company stack called Chocolate Neopolitan by Brenda Walton. I just LOVE pink and brown together! I cut the card shape from A Child's Year. The sentiment came from a large package of clear stamps that I picked up at Big Lots for ONE DOLLAR! Oh! How I looooove that store and their amazing scrapbooking steals!

The cupcake shape I cut from the From My Kitchen cartridge. After I cut out the shapes, I cut off the cherry stem by hand. I didn't feel this card needed that.

I also ran the frosting through my Divine Swirl Cuttlebug folder. After I did that, I felt like it needed a little something extra, so I traced over the swirled impressions with what has fast become a FAVORITE of mine--a Sakura GLAZE pen. I used the white one, which dries clear. It gave my 'frosting' some shine, which is pretty. These pens are so cool! It's like an embossing pen! I really love the dimension they add to an image. They retail for $19.99 at Michael's (for a set of 10, I believe) and I used a 50% off coupon to purchase them (of course!).

And the pink 'cherry' on top is a larger pink brad I happened to have in my stash.

Thanks for looking at my card! I hope you can maybe snag an idea or two from it. Take care!

  3. S000 cute Traci! I'm a big fan of pink and brown myself. I must say that's one of the cuter cupcakes and I LOVE the way the glaze pen looks on the swirls. Will be on the lookout for some of those now for sure! xxD
