Better late than never!

Here is a layout I've been working on for oh...about three weeks now. I got stuck and had to leave it sit for awhile before I could come back to it...I'm goofy like that sometimes. There are times when I know a layout needs more, but I just can't figure out what. When I leave it awhile and come back to it, I end up coming up with an idea I'm happy with.

It's a layout of my daughter's first friend birthday party last year-what a crazy day that was!  I've used a little sparkly magic to block out her friends' faces in the interest of their privacy.  I thought it would be cuter than laying big white squares of cardstock over their faces before photographing :)

Most of the papers used came from the Peace, Love, Happiness by the Paper Studio which can be purchased at Hobby Lobby.  The pink flowery papers are from a smaller stack I recently picked up at Tuesday Morning for 2 bucks.  I'm not sure what brand though...

 

Here's the side that was for the LID challenge and HERE is where you can find the original sketch on the Cricut message board.  Once again, I had more pictures than the layout called for, so I improvised.  I cut file folders from the Fabulous Finds Cricut cartridge and fashioned little pockets to hold inserts that hold and extra photo and journaling.  The little embellies on the tab serve almost as handles so the inserts can be pulled out more easily.

This little slice of cake (as well as the die cut gifts) wwere cut out from the Sweet Treats cartridge.  I added some white gel pen to make it pop as well as a "cherry" rhinestone.  I attached the cake to the insert with a pop dot.

Banners seem to be all the rage now, so I gave it a whirl.  These pieced were cut from the Celebrations cartridge.  Very cute!!! 

The black, starry background paper was cut using the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge.

It's hard to tell in this photo, but the journaling lines and brackets are raised and glittery.  They came in a pack of rubons I picked up at Big Lots recently for $1.50.  I added the white faux stitching and rhinestones.

And here's my title.  The birthday word is a K & Company sticker.  The yellow blast shape is from the Batman Cricut cartridge.  I manipulated it into this specific shape using my Gypsy.  The font is from Hannah Montana.

Here's a birthday card I made last week. It was for a 13th birthday, so I wanted to make it cool and not too cutesy.

On the inside of the card, I made this little embellishment and added some flat, shiny circles that came from JoAnn's dollar embellishment bin. I handwrote "I hope your 13th was ROCKIN'-Happy Birthday!"

The base of the card is Cor-dinations in purple/black. I sanded the edges just a touch so that the purple would peek out a little on the front of the card.

I used the Hannah Montana for the Ready 2 Rock cut. The paper is American Crafts specialty foil paper (that I just happened to get on clearance @ Hobby Lobby 75% off!). I was concerned how this paper would cut in my Expression, so I used med pressure and multicut 2 and it cut like a dream.

The music notes are also from the HM cartridge, the shadow is cut from the foil paper and the black glittery paper is from Target's dollar scrapbooking spot. You get two sheets of the glittery paper for a buck. It is kind of messy though...the glitter is very loose on the paper and makes a big mess!

The pink/black heart cardstock is from DCWV, and I'm sorry I don't know which stack, but I got it in a variety pack from Big Lots.

I'm hoping to post some more cards I've done. Depends on how quickly blogger wants to upload my photos!

My first real post!!!

Here's a paper flower that I cut out with my Walk In My Garden Cricut cartridge, inked the edges, and layered with pop dots. A nice little rhinestone in the center finishes it off.

I pop dotted the arrow and the "notes" tab. No other embellishing was needed because they were already FULL of glitter! I *heart* glitter by the way...



More of my pretty paper flowers...these are so easy and so much fun to make. They just add so much to a page I think.


This is the finished layout. The design is from Liz Qualman's blog. This is such a great layout I figured it would be a perfect way to start my blog.

The paper I used is a stack I picked up at Michael's last month called Grandma's Kitchen by We R Memory Keepers (and I used my 40% off coupon-of course!). The rhinestones are ones found in the dollar bin at Michael's as well. The blue shape at the bottom was cut from the Hannah Montana Cricut cartridge. That cart is a must have no matter you are a Hannah fan or not. It's got some really beautiful shapes on there. The green strip of paper I ran through my Fiskars paper trimmer (that tool is soooo cool! I didn't know I "needed" it until I saw it mentioned on the Cricut messageboards-haha!).
